When it come to North Coast Football clubs, it’s hard to find anything more grassroots than what’s evolving at Yuraygir FC.
While their player numbers are steady for 2021, they are sowing the seeds for growth.
Club secretary Angela Skennar – feted in the Newcastle Permanent Community Awards as the 2020 Volunteer of the Year – explains:
“The club’s good. We’ve got some great sponsors – with three more coming onboard since last year. It’s making life really easy.”
Yuraygir is chuffed to have two senior men’s outfits for the season ahead – including a number of lads now too old for their junior squads.
That will bring a solid mix of experience and enthusiasm.
On the juniors front, Angela said they plan to field mixed sides in the Under 8s, 10s and 15s – “and a few teams in the 6s and 7s, maybe two teams in both of those age groups.
“We’ve got a new president coming through and lots of little ones in the 6s and 7s so it’s looking really positive.”
