Yamba Breakers women lead the way

July 25th, 2022

The Yamba Breakers women have been one of the standout teams in North Coast Football’s community competitions this season.

The Breakers sit undefeated at the top of the Women’s 2nd Division North ladder.

The Breakers have won all five of their games in dominant fashion, scoring 43 goals while conceding just once.

Breakers president Mark Skippings highlighted what made the women’s team such a successful side.

“I think as a team they’ve got a good group of women who enjoy and embrace training sometimes with the men’s team, their captain Nic regularly supports the second division men’s team,” he said.

“Nic leads by example and really pushes the team.

In general, they are all good footballers who can challenge well physically, and we’ve got some experience as well as a lot of younger players who bring energy and strength in running.

“We’ve got a good mix of experience and youth, as well as youth who have experience.”

Skippings also said the club’s camaraderie played a big part in the side’s success.

“The women love the club’s culture as it’s really inclusive, they spend a lot of time off the field together, spending as much time in the clubhouse as they do at training,” he said.

After a dominant start to the season, the Breakers president entertained the possibility of playing in a competition such as the Coastal League One Women.

“It would be good to take part in a strong league like the CLOW, but the travel factor is a big consideration
