We’re recruiting referees

November 10th, 2021

North Coast Football is recruiting new referees for season 2022.

NCF today announced a series of courses that enable girls, boys, women and men to become referees.

Courses will be held on :

  • Coffs – Saturday 19 February 2022
  • Grafton – Sunday 20 February 2022
  • Coffs – Saturday 14 May 2022
  • Grafton – Sunday 15 May 2022

Referees, once they pass their theoretical and practical courses, can commence refereeing and be paid for their work in the centre or running the sideline.

The cost to become a referee is $150 which includes first-year registration and a complete kit.

Thanks to the NSW Government, we do have a limited number of full scholarships for female referees and these will be granted on a first come first serve basis.

To become a referee, you must be at least 13 years of age.

And you have to do five things…

  1. Let our Match Officials Coordinator, David Horseman, know you’re interested: Email
  2. Do the FFA Online Laws of the Game course. Click here: Link
  3. Do the Northern NSW Football Online Level 4 Referees Course. Email David and he will get you the details.
  4. Do the practical course in Coffs Harbour or Grafton.
  5. Pay your fees and get everything you need to get on the pitch with a whistle in hand.

The FFA Online Laws of the Game Course provides a basic introduction to the Laws of the Game and their interpretation. To successfully complete the course, a participant needs to pass the online examination and print their Statement of Completion Certificate.

The Level 4 Referee Course provides participants with education and training to become a referee. It can be undertaken online consisting of theory modules and practical sessions on a pitch to enable referees to begin officiating.

All new referees who pay their fees to undertake the Level 4 Referee Course will receive all of the following, under the NNSWF New Referee Starter Package:

  • Level 4 Referee Course and Materials
  • Laws of the Game Book
  • Referee Whistle
  • Assistant Referee Flag
  • Red and Yellow Card Set
  • Referee Notebook

Upon completing their accreditation and registering on Play Football as a referee with NNSWF or one of its member zones:

  • Black Refereeing Shirt, Shorts and Socks
  • Full Referee Registration for Your First Year
