The Force is strong in North Coast 13s

May 11th, 2021

The North Coast NPL 13s team is rich in character – from each and every one of the players through to coach Josh Brown.
On Sunday, at home, under threatening skies, that resilience shone bright as they celebrated their first win of the season – and a good ‘un too, 5-3 against Adamstown.
“Just to see the smiles on their faces. I’m very happy and very proud of this team,” Josh said.
Like the other North Coast NPL teams, the 13s have been foiled by the big wet which cruelled traditional training opportunity.
“We copped a couple of blowout scores, particularly in Newcastle,” Josh said.
The challenge was upped even further as the North Coast 13s have been short on numbers.
“We’ve finished a couple of games with just 10 on the field and the lack of numbers has been our biggest problem,” Josh said.
“But they’ve improved every week and (against Adamstown) everything clicked.
“They stood up, played their role and felt comfortable both in themselves and with those around them.
“I’m super happy and super proud. They needed a bit of a boost.”
Josh said his charges could profit from the trials of being undermanned.
“They’ve all had to play big minutes so that could be a benefit as we move on,” he said.
