Sydney FC’s Kelly Cross Gives Coaches Valuable Training

April 20th, 2016

Kelly Cross, the current Sydney FC Academy Director, is a man with a huge amount of success in the coaching and development of young players. North Coast Football managed to secure the services of Kelly earlier in the year, to work closely with our Rep coaches and run two training sessions aimed at demonstrating the intensity and types of drills required to develop young footballers.

Kelly has written several books on the development of young players, most notably the FFA’s National Curriculum.

It’s a real measure of the man that despite his hectic role with the prominent A-League club, he managed to take the time out to visit our regional area in an effort to continue to assist the game at a grassroots level. During the two particular sessions, a Skills Training, and Game Training component, each were delivered in a very professional manner. Local Technical Director, Gary McGinnis, was naturally delighted to have the visit.

It was excellent to have Kelly here and the 20 or so coaches we had  allowed them to take so much back to their own particular sessions. Kelly’s excellent communication, professionalism and overall integrity was evident throughout and provided a glimpse of why coaches need to continue to improve their coaching skills in the regional areas”

“His delivery was perfect and it was a delight to see the impact it had on the local coaches who attended. Kelly wrote many of the programs and coach education courses we run here and around the nation. We can only encourage more coaches to attend courses that can help both their players and themselves as developing coaches. We hope to have Kelly back here some day in the near future as he has already added some real inspiration here.”

North Coast Football thanks Kelly for making the time to come and offer his expertise in the NCF Zone.
