Semi Final Previews

August 31st, 2016

The North Coast Football Regular Season has come to an end, and we’re heading into Semi-Finals. To view the time and date of semi finals, click on fixtures in the top menu, then navigate to the competition, and from the drop down list select Finals (instead of Normal Season).

North Coast Hotel Group Men’s Premier League

1st vs 4th (Coffs United vs Coffs Coast Tigers)

Coffs United take on Coffs Coast Tigers at Polwarth Drive on Saturday. Kick Off 3pm.

These two sides have met twice this season, with the Lions winning both games. In Round One Coffs United beat the Tigers 4-2, and in Round 10 they won 5-0. However, the Tigers have improved toward the back end of the season, and are particularly strong at home. Whilst Coffs United are the favourites, the Tigers should prove difficult to break down defensively.

2nd vs 3rd (Urunga Raiders vs Boambee Bombers)

Urunga Raiders take on Boambee at Ayrshire Park, Boambee on Sunday. Kick Off 2pm.

Boambee beat Urunga in their first encounter this season, with Adam Pickup scoring two fantastic headers to win 2-0. However, their recent form hasn’t been great, with just 1 win from the final 3 rounds of competition, including a woeful 9-1 loss to Urunga three weeks ago. Their performances need to improve if they’re going to knock over a strong Urunga outfit.

The Raiders, on the other hand, seem to be getting stronger and stronger as the season progresses. With close to a full strength squad to pick from, we tip Urunga as the favourites for this one.

North Coast Hotel Group Women’s Premier League

1st vs 4th (Boambee Eagles vs Urunga Raiders)

Urunga Raiders host Boambee at Urunga on Saturday. Kick Off 3pm

Boambee Eagles have dominated this fixture so far this year, winning all three games convincingly. Urunga Raiders will be high on confidence after knocking off Coffs United Lionessess, however Boambee is another class. In any case this will be a great game to watch.

2nd vs 3rd (Maclean Bobcats vs Woolgoolga Wildcats)

Woolgoolga face the Bobcats at High Street Oval in Woolgoolga on Saturday. 3pm Kick Off.

This match-up could go either way, with Maclean the slight favourites following a strong and fairly consistent season to claim second spot, but Woolgoolga showing they can beat the Bobcats in the final round of competition winning 2-1 at home.
