North Coast Football host Football Mid North Coast for the first PS4 NPL home game of the season on Sunday at Leisure Park in Coffs Harbour.
It’s a massive milestone for football in the region, and will mark the first of many high-quality matches brought to the area because of NCF’s participation in the PS4 NPL.
The first two home games were cancelled due to bad weather, though after some good results away from home, NCF’s 13’s, 14’s and 15’s are looking to continue their excellent start to the season in front of their first home crowd at Leisure Park.
Last week’s loss away to Broadmeadow was the first real eye-opener for our boys, and one that NCF Technical Director Gary McGinnis said we can learn from.
“Broadmeadow was a wake up call for all teams, they set the benchmark and showed us our weaknesses. Even though we may have dominated the games, we were well beaten because of small errors, but we will fix that, and learn for the next game.”
Football Mid North Coast travelled to Coffs Harbour in February to play a pre-season warm-up match against NCF’s NPL teams. The games gave our coaches an insight into the type of football to expect in the competition. McGinnis hinted that this weekends fixtures will focus on tactics and ball possession.
“MNC are the team we know the most about, so we already have an advantage for this fixture. They have always been strong, they are very competitive and won’t give up, what we need to do is maintain possession of the ball and take our opportunities when they come.”
