NPL U13s Rewarded for Hard Work and Determination

July 24th, 2020

North Coast Football’s National Premier League squads travel to Newcastle this weekend to take on Maitland FC. This week, we look at the NPL U13s squad, and how they’re progressing in their first year of the competition.

The National Premier Leagues is a tough competition and a massive step up for regional players. It’s for this reason that NCF has endeavoured to enter 4 squads every year since 2016. And despite tedious travel and difficult conditions, our NPL squads have always competed well.

The opening rounds of the NPL were difficult for our 13s squad in 2020. They came up against quality opposition on away turf, and results weren’t going their way. But last week’s match against Charlestown has instilled confidence into the young team, a comprehensive 7-1 victory that shows what hard work and determination can achieve.

NCF Technical Director Jack Dover says the improvements are a testament to the hard work of the U13s squad so far this year.

“We have been focussing on attacking transition this month, and it worked well for them on the weekend. It was fantastic for the U13s to be rewarded for all their hardwork that they’ve put In so far.”

“We’ve been working really hard on our defensive organisation to be hard to beat, then looking to break down our opponents on the counter attack. We scored some really good goals and created goal scoring opportunities across all our age groups, so we will be looking to continue with that for the rest of this month.”

You can keep up to date with all of our development squads scores on social media, as they compete in Newcastle this weekend.
