North Coast Football sides have mixed bag of results

July 20th, 2022

North Coast Football’s NPL Youth Northern NSW sides have had a mixed bag of results during the latest round of the competition.

North Coast Football sides took on Valentine FC in their matchday at Lake Macquarie.

The under 16s maintained top spot on the ladder with a 2-1 victory against the hosts.

The under 15s kept their finals hopes alive with a dominant 7-0 win in Round 19.

North Coast Football’s under 14s had a 1-1 draw with Valentine to remain third on the ladder, while the under 13s went down 5-1.

North Coast Football Player and Coach Technical Development Manager Alex Nolan gave his thoughts on the Valentine matches.

“Our 16s found themselves down 1-0 at half-time, and then a saved penalty from us was the game changer,” he said.

“Our 13s were only down 2-0 at half-time, and they had some good moments in attack and defence but Valentine proved too strong.

“And our 14s drew 1-1 in what sounded like a tight game.”

North Coast Football sides head to Taree this weekend for their Round 20 matches against Mid Coast FC, which Nolan said would provide another challenging weekend.

“They are strong across the board and might have a team in every finals this season,” he said.

“It’s the nearest team we play so it’s a bit of a derby for us.”
