NORTH Coast Football sides have produced competitive efforts against one of the best clubs of the National Premier League competition.
North Coast Football’s best juniors played host to Maitland FC during Round 16 of the NPL Boys Northern NSW season at the Coffs Football Centre Synthetics.
The under 16s maintained top spot on the ladder with a 2-1 win against the Magpies in a matchup between two top four teams.
North Coast Football’s under 15s and 14s both had close losses going down 1-0 and 3-2 respectively, while the under 13s lost 4-1.
North Coast Football Player and Coach Development Manager Alex Nolan gave a recap of the round.
“The 16s conceded early but came back to win 2-1 to take them 5 points clear at the top of the table,” he said.
“Our 15s played some great football but just couldn’t find the back of the net losing 1-0 to one of the top teams in the competition.
“Our 14s were up 2-0 at the half and within 10 minutes of the second half found themselves down 3-2, and our 13s conceded two penalties and didn’t have their best day losing 4-1.”
North Coast Football teams now head to Lake Macquarie to take on Edgeworth FC this weekend.
