Majos FC smelling the roses

August 3rd, 2021

For Majos FC, 2021 has been one humdinger of a season, and the show ain’t run yet.
Club president Matt Green said surging junior numbers, the special performance of two teams, and the strong chance they’ll be able to field a senior men’s side next year are all positive signs.
The standout Majos side has been their 12s, who are sitting third and right in the thick of it for the finals.
“It’s been great to see them do so well in their first season in competitive grade,” Matt said.
“They’ve struggled with numbers at times but I think they’ve only lost about two games and their goal difference is about plus-51. It’s been good to see them have success on the bigger field.”
Majos 15s are also chugging along in strong fashion, sitting third and near the top, though have played more games than leaders Westlawn.
Excitingly, Majos are well positioned to return to senior football in 2022.
“We’ve had a focus on juniors, but we’ve seen a number of parents reconnect with the club through their children,” Matt said.
“We’re pretty sure we’ll have a men’s team next year – and that will also provide a great pathway for our 15s.”
