Hip hop Bunny as Charlotte dances into NSW All Schools

June 23rd, 2021

Those with a keen eye for talented youngsters will nod knowingly after Sawtell’s Charlotte Bunny was named in the NSW All Primary Schools team.
The quality centre mid is young of age, but something of an old hand when it comes to the beautiful game – lacing up and playing football with her brother in the backyard since the age of 3.
But being named among the very best in the State still brought a wow factor.
“I was very excited and very surprised,” Charlotte said.
“Especially as I was injured a lot during the tournament, and strained my achilles the week before.”
The road to glory for the Year 6 Mary Help of Christians Toormina student was exacting.
Charlotte’s dad Matt explained the path of progression started at Grafton for Diocesan Zone. From there it was into the North Coast side for Polding at Bathurst.
The final hurdle was at Rooty Hill, where two Polding teams mixed it with the best from across the primary school system.
The upshot saw Charlotte – niggly achilles and all – named in the NSW All Schools team, and if it wasn’t for COVID, next stop would have been the nationals in Darwin.
It’s been a mercurial rise, though locally at least, Charlotte’s quality has long been realised as she’s come through the club ranks at Boambee and then Sawtell.
“I just enjoy football so much,” Charlotte said. “My best part is probably providing goal assists.”
