GRAFTON soccer is on the brink of establishing a link with one of Australia’s most successful football clubs, the Brisbane Roar.

Tomorrow night and Saturday morning at Rushforth Park the Grafton United, South Services Gunners and Grafton City soccer clubs will host seven Roar coaching staff who will put 225 children and 60 adults through their paces.

“This is the first clinic of its type for as long as I can remember,” South Services Gunners Juniors president Shanon Tough said.

“We are hopefully on the brink of something big in regards to securing long term partnerships with this elite club, which would include more of our juniors being invited up to Roar home games as mascots and for the half time show and more coaching clinics and hopefully A-League players coming to Grafton.”

As part of Grafton United’s plan to develop young players, coaches, clubs and football in the Clarence they have opened the doors for players from all clubs in the Clarence Valley to join the Rushforth Park based clubs and apply for a spot at the clinics.

“Our focus is on promoting soccer as the family fun sport that we all enjoy. It’s a game that everyone in your family can be involved in. Regardless of age, ability, gender, there’s a type of soccer for everyone,” Tough said.

“Soccer is cheap, fun and played in a safe environment where you can make friends and stay healthy and active.”

The cost of this clinic for Grafton United, Gunners and City 2016 registered junior players has been subsidised by the club as part of their development plan. For all visiting players there is a cost of $20.

Numbers are limited so players interested are encouraged to respond quickly.

For more information and to secure a spot contact Shanon Tough on 0420907629.
