Female coaches – rise, shine, grow

May 10th, 2021

Local females who coach would do well to take the tip from Woolgoolga’s Lisa Webb – as nominations open for a special scholarship.
Lisa – who coaches the 14s Woopi Waves and the NCF 14s girls rep side – was one of five to win a Northern NSW Football C Licence Coaching Scholarship for Women last year.
“It was the time of the fires and the other four were from the big clubs at Newcastle so it would be great to get more women qualified from our area,” Lisa said.
While the course was challenging, Lisa said it was enriching.
“There was just so much information on how to plan and prepare sessions. We had access to coaches from the Gold Coast to Newcastle and technical directors – very experienced people,” Lisa said.
“It was invaluable and it helped my confidence.
“The course took the shift away from the drills style and taught us about game based training – which kids love.”
The scholarship provides the opportunity for five female coaches to complete the Football Australia C Licence, with the aim of increasing the number of accredited female coaches within NNSWF.
Each scholarship includes a $1,000 contribution towards the course fee ($1,185).
Successful candidates will receive ongoing support from the NNSWF Technical team and the Female Participation and Inclusion Officer.
It’s an outstanding opportunity to grow yourself and your team – so as Lisa says, just go for it.
