Coffs Harbour to host National Youth Championships

August 1st, 2022

COFFS Harbour is set to host some of Australia’s best junior footballers.

The National Youth Championships will be held in September at the Ce.x Coffs International Stadium, as Australia’s finest junior footballers play off over 10 big days of fantastic football.

Australia’s best Under 14 and 16 girls will play from 19-23 September, while the best Under 14 and 15 boys will play from 26-30 September.

North Coast Football players Charlotte Bunny, Logan Sambrook and Anthony Omtha have been selected to represent Northern New South Wales at the national competition.

Teams from Football Australia’s nine State and Territory Member Federations will compete over five days to not only claim the coveted national title, but to impress attending National team and technical staff from Football Australia.

The National Youth Championships will be held for the first time since 2019, and is Football Australia’s premier national youth tournament forming an important part of the talent identification program and the national team pathway.

Many current Socceroos and Commonwealth Bank Matildas are NYC alumni, with many players at this year’s event destined for junior and senior national team selection

Northern NSW Football has hosted the National Youth Championships since 2006 through the support of long-time partner, Coffs Harbour City Council along with the NSW Government, through the Office of Sport and Destination NSW.

Competing states at this year’s National Youth Championships include Capital Football, Football New South Wales, Football Northern Territory, Football Queensland, Football South Australia, Football Tasmania, Football Victoria, Football West, and Northern NSW Football.

The draw for this year’s national championships will be announced in August, with Northern NSW Football having announced their squads last month.
