Bringing the A game to Female Football Week

April 27th, 2021

Back before the enlightenment, it was literally raining men (and boys) in Australian football.
Thankfully, what began as a trickle has now become a torrent as girls and women are turning to the game in record numbers.
The surging tide in female participation is no more evident than on the North Coast – where locally a week of special events are planned.
Northern NSW Female Participation and Inclusion Officer Annelise Rosnell said Female Football Week will run from June 19-27 – and all clubs are encouraged to get onboard.
“It’s about recognising and celebrating the women that we have in football,” Annelise said.
From May 3, North Coast clubs are each invited to put forward an event.
“They could host a come and try day, run a gala day, have a networking night with a masterclass from a guest speaker, or even just a barbecue,” Annelise said.
The overriding theme to the celebration will be grassroots engagement – and a number of headline area events are also planned.
These include:
June 20 – All-Female Game Training Certificate at Coffs Harbour
June 21 – Coaching masterclass, presenter Debbie Fisher
June 22 – Girls primary school gala day
June 24 – Girls high school gala day
June 25 – Referee masterclass, and;
June 26 – Female Football Week networking night and WPL showcase game.
