Breaking good at Corindi Red Rock

March 17th, 2021

When you sign up with the Corindi Red Rock Breakers, you basically do so for life.
That’s the strength of a small club that punches well above its weight in North Coast Football.
Last year the Breakers had four teams through to the finals – a remarkable effort.
Their Under 13 boys and senior men were grand finalists, while the senior women and Over 30s women powered through to the semi-finals.
Breakers secretary Shantell Acebedo explains how the little community club enjoys such success.
“We have a lot who have been playing here for 20 years, and many of our juniors have been with us since they were five years old. It’s that steady commitment which helps,” Shantell said.
While the Breakers have their own patch – there’s a big club just across the fence.
“It’s always push and pull with Woolgoolga,” Shantell said.
But the Breakers more than hold their own, and with player numbers steady, are looking to field a motza of teams in 2021.
Shantell said they will have 6s, 7s, two 8s teams, girls and boys teams in the U12s and U14s, plus senior men, women and an Over 30s women.
“It’s particularly pleasing to have an Under 12s girls because that will be the first time in a while that we’ve had one,” Shantell said.
