All-in for fun at Nambucca

June 8th, 2021

What was a few has now become a swag of North Coast Football clubs who will mark Female Football Week – and nowhere will it be more special than at Nambucca Heads.
The Strikers will give their girls a leave pass from training on Wednesday, June 23 – to celebrate the occasion.
The club’s women’s delegate, Simone Jordan, said a barbecue will be held and there will be a series of mini games with a twist.
“We’ll have our Under 12s, Under 14s, senior women’s and Over 30s – and we plan to pool them and form sides from across the ages so they’ll get to know one another,” Simone said.
“We’ve already had requests from mums who’d like to play with their daughters, plus we’ll involve the women from our Kick-On program.”
Simone, who turns out as a player for the Strikers Over 30s and senior women’s, noted there had been an explosion of interest in female football.
“Having the World Cup here and in New Zealand in 2023 has definitely helped to promote the game,” she said.
