Ah, Maclean, you’ve done it again

March 25th, 2021

Maclean is one of the big clubs in the north – and they’re stoked to see player numbers surge for the season pending.
“We had 296 registered in 2019, 276 last year and we’re looking at over 300 for 2021,” club president Matthew Farrell said.
“On Sunday we still had 50 players from last year who hadn’t registered and we expect most of them will be returning.
“We’ll have juniors from 6s to 16s in every age group – and probably a couple of 16s teams which is pleasing to see.”
The good news story is mirrored in the senior ranks.
Maclean will have four men’s teams – their firsts and reserves in the Premier League at Lismore, plus 2nd and 3rd Division squads in the Clarence competition.
Ditto the strength for the women, with two sides – headlined by their entry in the premier 1st Division where they’ll tangle with Urunga, Boambee and Woolgoolga.
Matt said the numbers overall were a big boost for the club which is celebrating its 40th year in 2021.
