Semi Final Second Leg Preview

September 9th, 2016

The North Coast Hotel Group Premier League is one week away from Grand Finals, meaning results at this weekend’s second leg semi final will determine the make up of the finals.

Coffs United host Coffs Coast Tigers at McLean Street on Sunday, and the Lions have plenty of work ahead of them to overturn a 1-0 deficit against one of the strongest defences in the league.

United Coach Glen Williams is confident they can get the result they need.

“The difference last week was intensity, they had one chance and they scored, we had 20 and we didn’t put any away, so we’ve got to lift next week and take our chances if want to make the finals.”

Kick Off for Coffs United vs Coffs Tigers is at 2pm.

Urunga Raiders scored two goals away from home last week, beating Boambee 2-1 at Aryshire Park. This week however, the Raiders know how dangerous Baombee will be, and admitted they were lucky to escape with all three points last weekend.

Raiders captain Kale Hopper said “We need to address a few things that didn’t go too well today, mostly just starting with more intensity, I think we lacked that at the start of the game and didn’t really recover.”

It will take a big effort from the Bombers to overturn the defecit and get through to the Grand Finals, but they’ve won at the Cabbage Patch previously this year, and will have belief after their impressive performance last weekend.

North Coast Hotel Group Womens Premier League

In the Women’s Premier League, Boambee Eagles and Maclean Bobcats are in the driving seat for Grand Final places. It would take a big upset for either side to be knocked out this weekend.

Boambee take on fourth placed Urunga Raiders at Aryshire Park on Saturday, and Maclean take on third placed Woolgoolga in Maclean.

Last weekend Urunga played well against Boambee, losing by just the one goal with the final score 2-1. Maclean beat Woolgoolga 2-0 to give them an almost guaranteed semi-finals spot.

Both games kick-off at 3pm on Saturday. Stay up to date with live scores on both with the NCF App. Download “Team App” from Google Play/App Store and search North Coast Football.
