Newcastle Permanent Community Award Winners Announced for June

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) congratulates this month’s Newcastle Permanent Community Award Monthly Winners in North Coast Football for June.

The awards recognise the hard work and significant time volunteers, coaches and match officials contribute to Australia’s largest team sport.

NNSWF Community Football Manager, Peter Haynes said the Newcastle Permanent Community Awards provide an important opportunity to recognise those who make the game what it is today.

“Without this month’s winners, football simply would not be in the position it is, each of these winners has made an outstanding contribution to their clubs and deserve to be recognised.

“Community Football relies on a collective effort and these awards reflect the appreciation extended to everyone who plays a role in progressing our game.

“I am pleased we are able to thank and acknowledge each of them on behalf of the sport, thanks to the support of our major sponsor, Newcastle Permanent.”

Each of the winners was selected from a number of nominations made by club colleagues and observers of the game.  Each winner receives unique packs from Official Community Football Partner, Newcastle Permanent to help them in their endeavours.

Newcastle Permanent Coffs Harbour Branch Manager, Josh Freeman, congratulates each of the winners and thanks them for their contribution to the game.

“Volunteers, referees and coaches are the lifeblood of community football and without their hard work games would not happen every weekend. Our thanks goes to the thousands across Northern NSW who give their time so generously and ensure players and spectators have a great experience on and off the field,” Freeman said.

From the pool of monthly winners, North Coast Football will nominate one winner from each category to represent their Zone for the opportunity to be named “Newcastle Permanent Community Football Winner of the Year” to be announced at NNSWF’s Annual Awards Night in October.

Northern NSW Football, North Coast Football and Newcastle Permanent congratulate all the recipients for June.

Referee of the Month

Joseph Majambere

Joseph has demonstrated a noticeable, constant positive attitude, on and off the field. He demonstrates his passion for the game and refereeing by being available to regularly referee. Joseph is always willing to assist others and has a great teaching ability that was displayed during the Level 4 course offered in Coffs Harbour.

Volunteer of the Month

Eric McCarthy

Eric is a tireless worker for the club as he manages all theuniforms and equipment. In addition to this, he has brought in many new sponsors over the last few years and is always heavily involved in every social event. Eric also coaches the Men’s 3rd division side and has achieved great success. He is a terrific example.

Coach of the Month

Damian Benson

Damian Benson is one of a small number of Club Coaching Coordinators (CCCs) in the Coffs Coast area of the North Coast Zone. Damian’s passion and commitment to drive the game towards new and improved coaching models and best practices has gained much respect and appreciation, not only within his club but throughout the region. The new structure and direction being overseen provides support mechanisms for parents, coaches and players. The appointment of a CCC is a critical point of contact for any club with ambition to deliver a quality services to all its members at all levels which is evident of how the respective teams are progressing in both the competitive and non-competitive sections of the club. Damian has also been part of the Boambee Bombers team that made it to the NNSWF Final 8 stage for the 2018 FFA Cup competition. Football is fortunate to have dedicated individuals like Damien to help grow the game throughout in the North Coast Zone.
